What is The Hunting Party about?
An explosion at a secret prison releases dangerous serial killers into the outside world. Former profiler Rebecca Henderson joins a specialized team tasked with locating them, while the institution they escaped from presents questions of its own.
Five things to know.
The starting situation
The prison explosion gives Rebecca Henderson and her specialist colleagues a concrete pursuit, while leaving them with questions about the institution behind it.
The world around it
The secret detention facility supplies a premise that goes beyond an ordinary police department, tying the pursuit to an unusual institutional background.
The central pressure
The team must act before the fugitives can threaten new victims, but incomplete knowledge about their imprisonment complicates its understanding of the cases.
The creative approach
JJ Bailey creates the thriller, with Melissa Roxburgh playing Rebecca and Jake Coburn among the executive producers behind its investigative team.
Before episode one
Expect a fugitive-hunting procedural with a continuing prison mystery; this introduction avoids revealing the answers behind the facility or its prisoners.
A thought to take with you.
The team’s immediate assignment is clear, but its information is not. That mismatch makes the prison’s background a continuing pressure on an otherwise concrete pursuit.
Is it your kind of series?
Try it for a high-concept crime procedural and a specialist team tracking fugitives. Expect violent criminal cases and an ongoing institutional mystery.
Three ideas to take with you.
- An urgent task does not remove the need for scrutiny.
- A profile is useful only within its context.
- An institution’s secrets can outlast its walls.
