2024 / Crime partnership thriller / Adapted by Amaya Muruzábal & Salvador Perpiñá
An exceptional investigator is pulled back into a difficult case.
What is Reina Roja about?
Antonia Scott’s extraordinary intelligence once made her central to a secret investigative project. A new kidnapping and murder case brings police officer Jon Gutiérrez into her life, drawing her back toward work she has tried to leave and a partnership neither has chosen under easy circumstances.
Five things to know.
The starting situation
Jon’s assignment is to bring Antonia back into an investigation, making the partnership’s beginning a negotiation rather than an established working arrangement.
The world around it
The Spanish thriller places an unusual investigator inside a secret policing project, linking specialist ability with an organization’s demand for results.
The central pressure
Antonia’s talents come with a difficult professional history, while Jon faces his own pressures as the pair tries to tackle the case.
The creative approach
Amaya Muruzábal and Salvador Perpiñá adapt Juan Gómez-Jurado’s novel, with Victoria Luengo playing Antonia and Hovik Keuchkerian as Jon.
Before episode one
Known internationally as Red Queen, this is a fictional crime thriller whose exceptional-intelligence premise belongs to the character rather than a real-world ranking.
A thought to take with you.
Antonia is needed for what she can do, but her reluctance asks what that work has already cost. The partnership begins where professional usefulness meets a person’s reasons for staying away.
