Brefly brings books, movies, and TV series into one library of short briefs. Find the key ideas of a book, understand a film's premise, or get a little context before starting a series. Your next read or watch starts with curiosity.

Why the library exists

There is always another book to open or story to watch. Brefly helps curious readers and viewers decide what deserves more of their time, without pretending a short introduction can replace the original experience.

What you can read here

Book briefs introduce key ideas and reasons to read the full work. Movie briefs cover the starting premise and a few things to know. Series briefs introduce a show's world before episode one. Our current screen briefs are spoiler-free, not full plot recaps.

The discovery library searches all three. You can also browse the existing web briefs and topic desks, or bring your own text to the summarizer.

Who maintains brefly

brefly is an independent product built and maintained by the brefly team. We own and operate the website, the public library, and the optional summarization tool.

How a public brief is made

Brefly uses AI-assisted writing. Screen briefs distinguish primary descriptions from secondary references, keep factual premises separate from interpretation, and state their scope. They do not claim personal viewing or independent expert review. Important details should still be checked against the original. Read our editorial approach.

The summarizer

The optional tool lets you paste an article, notes, or a PDF and get a private first pass. Pasted text and uploaded PDFs are not published. Public web pages can create editorial drafts. New drafts require explicit source, original-value, and rights review before they become public library pages.

Our standard

We aim for useful, specific, honest summaries. When something is wrong or unclear, tell us. We review reported issues and update pages when a correction improves the reader's understanding.
