Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how brefly ("we") handles information across the public brief library and the optional summarization tool. We keep it minimal.

1. Content you submit

• Pasted text and uploaded PDFs are processed to generate a private brief and are never published. PDF text is extracted in your own browser and only the extracted text is sent for summarizing.
• Public web pages and videos can create drafts for editorial consideration when you ask the tool to summarize them. New drafts are not public pages; publication requires an explicit review of sources, original value, and usage rights. The source URL, title, topic, and generated brief can be stored publicly.
• Published library pages are source-based editorial content. They do not contain your private notes or uploaded files.

2. AI processing

To generate a brief, submitted text may be sent to AI providers including Cloudflare Workers AI, Cerebras, Groq, Mistral, OpenRouter, or Google Gemini, depending on service availability, solely to produce the summary. We do not use your content to train models. Published public-source briefs are retained as part of the library.

3. Account and payment data

If you subscribe, payment is handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects the billing information needed to process your payment under its own privacy policy. We receive only the information required to activate and manage your subscription (such as your email and plan).

4. Usage data and abuse prevention

We use a signed cookie to count daily free briefs. To prevent automated abuse and protect the AI budget, the server may use a short-lived hashed network identifier and rate-limit counters. We do not sell your personal data.

5. Site analytics

Cloudflare Web Analytics may measure page views and performance through a browser beacon. This helps us understand which pages work well. It is separate from the signed cookie used by our free summarizer. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for its processing practices.

6. Advertising and your choices

We are preparing Brefly for Google AdSense. Google advertising tags are not enabled until our advertising and consent setup is ready. When enabled, Google and its advertising partners may collect, share, and use information such as page visits, cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, and other identifiers to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud, and, where consent is given, personalize advertising. Third parties may place and read cookies on your browser as a result of ad serving.

Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services and manage personalization in My Ad Center. Browser settings can also limit cookies. Rejecting optional advertising consent does not block access to our public library.

Before advertising is served in regions that require it, we will configure a Google-certified consent management platform. Its consent message explains the applicable purposes and partners and provides choices; a Privacy choices control will let you revisit those choices when that integration is active. This policy alone does not collect consent.

7. Waitlist and contact

If you join a waitlist or contact us, we store the email and message you provide in our private contact inbox to handle your request. A successful contact form submission means the message was saved to that inbox; it is not an email-delivery receipt. Waitlist information is used for the service update you requested.

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time via our Contact page.
